OTTAWA -- Early season struggles continue to plague the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team.

For the second straight night Lakehead gave up more than 50 shots on goal, as the Carleton Ravens completed the weekend sweep with a 6-1 victory over the Thunderwolves at the Ice House on Saturday.

The loss is the fourth straight for Lakehead (3-5-2).

The Ravens outshot Lakehead by a 54-27 margin, upping the total number of shots faced by Thunderwolves goalie Justin McDonald over the course of the weekend to 112.

Mitch Poworski netted a hat trick while Joe Pleckaitis scored a pair to pace the Carleton attack.

Carleton jumped on Lakehead early, leading 3-0 after the first 20 minutes. Poworski struck twice in a span of 33 seconds to take the lead while Pleckaitis notched his first of the evening.

Mike Hammond got Lakehead on the board early in the second period but that was as close as they would get.

Joey West answered to restore the three-goal cushion while Poworski and Pleckaitis rounded out the scoring.

Lakehead hosts the Brock Badgers (2-4-1) at the Fort William Gardens next weekend.
