The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Jordan Larson has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period ending Sept. 25.
In four games this past week the 16-year-old rookie racked up 10 points on three goals and seven assists helping the Lakers win three games.
He began his award-winning effort with a goal and an assist in a shootout victory over Dryden on Tuesday.
The Fort Frances native followed that up with another tally and two helpers, including setting up the game-winner, helping his side rally in a comeback triumph over the defending SIJHL champion Wisconsin Wilderness on Friday.
After being held off the score sheet in a 2-1 setback at Wisconsin Saturday he rounded out his productive week by bagging another marker and dishing out four assists in a road victory at Duluth on Sunday.
Larson, who was one of four league representatives at the recently held Canada West World Jr. A Challenge evaluation camp in Canmore, Alta., leads all SIJHL skaters in both goals and points with six and 13 respectively.
For his on-ice efforts last week Larson will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.
Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Ryan Lobreau, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Jayme Brattengeier (G) Sioux Lookout Flyers; Dillon Mershon (F) Duluth Clydesdales, Anthony Calabrese, (F) Wisconsin Wilderness and Travis Tilley, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
The Iron Range Ironheads did not play any games last week and did not have a nominee.
At the conclusion of the 2011-12 regular season the top player in the SIJHL will be presented with the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
