Whether they were sluggish from too much Christmas turkey or not, the Thunder Bay North Stars got off to a slow start Wednesday night and never really recovered.
Fort Frances got goals from Jordan Christianson, Henry Gutierrez and Byron Katapaytuk and built an early 3-0 lead at Fort William Gardens and never really looked back, downing the Stars 6-2 in front of 855 fans.
Quinn Rempel scored a pair for the Stars, with the Lakers also getting goals from Bryan Borders and Ryan Wildman.
Second-place Fort Frances improved to 23-8-4, while the North Stars fell to 16-11-5, one point ahead of fourth-place Dryden.
