Lappe Nordic Ski Club has qualified, not one, but two, elite skiers to compete in Canada’s first ever World Cup tour beginning Tuesday, March 1.

Lappe skiers, Michael Somppi and Andy Shields, will be joined by four other colleagues (Bob Thompson, Jenn Jackson, Alannah Maclean, and Katherine Stewart-Jones) from NDC-TBay (National Development Centre – Thunder Bay) to compete against the best X-country racers from around the world.

Not only does Lappe Ski Club have elite racers going to this historic World Cup tour; Lappe Club member and head coach for NDC-TBay, Timo Puiras, has been selected by Cross Country Canada to be part of the coaching and support team for Canada’s athletes in the Tour.

Next to the Olympics, this is the highest level of international competition possible.
