Game No. 1: Bantam – Schreiber North Shore Stars 2 Thunder Bay Fury 0
The annual Thunder Bay Queens Showcase kicked off Friday morning with the North Shore Stars of Schreiber opening up with a 2-0 victory. This was a closely contested game with no score after two periods of play. Schreiber finally broke the ice midway through the final frame as Avery Figliomeni potted the eventual game-winner. Edie Levesque added some insurance in the final minute to round out the scoring.

Game No. 2: Midget – Ontario Power Generation Queens 1 Brooking Rangers 0
Action in the midget A division began with the host OPG Queens scoring late to come away with a hard-fought 1-0 decision. Both sides battled throughout the contest with Riley Cronk scoring the only goal of the match with just 2:32 remaining to give Thunder Bay the win. Cronk would go on to earn game MVP laurels for her side.

Game No. 3: Bantam – Fort Frances Leafs 3 Dryden Sunset Granite Snipers 0
Amber Jourdain was a one-girl show for Fort Frances scoring all three goals helping her squad pull out a 3-0 triumph in their Queens Showcase weekend opener. She would go on to earn game star honours for the Leafs while Martina Wintle was recognized for Dryden.

Game No. 4: Bantam – Kelly’s Family Hair Care Queens 5 Green Bay Bobcats 1
Thunder Bay got goals from five different scorers in a 5-1 victory over the Green Bay Bobcats. Kristin Martin, Allison Pages, Sara Smith, Veronica Pellerin and Olivia Shaw all found the back of the net for the Queens. McKenna Holman had the lone goal for the Bobcats.

Game No. 6: Midget A – Winning Streak Charters Queens 4 Keweenaw Storm 0
The Thunder Bay Winning Streak Charters Queens scored four times in the first period en route to a 4-0 shutout over the Keweenaw Storm of Calumet, Mich., in the first round-robin game for both clubs.
Notching markers for the bantam AA side, who have moved up an age-level to compete this weekend, were Karli Nummikoski, Samantha Strassburger, Brooke Boquist and Jessica Gazzola. Chipping in with two assists was Bronwyn Bolduc.

Game No. 7: Midget A – Brookings Rangers 3 Hearst Ice Cats 3
Midget A division action saw the Brookings and Hearst skate to a 3-3 draw. Sierra Winter, Lexy Koenig and Brittany Rennich tallied for the Rangers while the Ice Cats got markers from Kelsey Boivin, Ciji Fortier and Stepanie Ayres who tied it up for Hearst in the third period. Ayres went on to earn game star honours for her team while Rennich was recognized for Brookings. The goaltenders of record were Devyn Prodoehl (Brookings) and Sabrina Picard. (Hearst)

Game No. 8: Bantam – Thunder Bay Fury 2 Dryden Snipers 1
Goaltenders Meagan Jung of the Thunder Bay Fury and C.J. Ecker of the Dryden Fury were both solid in a match-up narrowly won by the Fury 2-1. Jordan Currie and Jacqueline Desimone, with the game-winner in the third period, tallied for Thunder Bay while Dryden’s effort came off the stick of Martina Wintle.

Game No. 9: Peewee – Taranis Contracting Queens 10 Dryden Timberwolves 1
The first of a three-game set in the peewee division between the Queens and Dryden was all Thunder Bay as they rolled to a 10-1 triumph. Kayla Etreni and Paige Sullivan both dished out hat-tricks in the win while Hanna Johnston added a pair and Madeline Browczuk along with Amanda Pages supplied singles. Leah Balla had the lone Dryden tally and earned game MVP honours for her side. Etreni did likewise for the Queens who saw goaltender Callie Bevilacqua pick-up the victory in net.

Game No. 10: Midget AA – Sportop Queens 4 Sault Ste. Marie Wildcats 0
Midget AA action began with this contest as Megan Leikkari registered the shutout in a 4-0 triumph for the Sportop Queens over visiting Sault Ste. Marie. Thunder Bay got goals from Ellia Heroux, Brianna Iazzolino, Michela Cava and Kaitlyn Tougas. Karly Vis contributed with a pair of helpers while solo assists went to Heroux, Natasha Nicholl, Alyssa Westerback and Savanna Gamache. Amanda Alexander was between the pipes for the Wildcats.
 

Game No. 11: Bantam – Kelly’s Family Hair Care Queens 4 Hearst Ice Cats 1

The Queens got goals from four different players en route to their first win of the day. Sara Smith, Allison Pages, Marissa Anderson and Olivia Shaw all tallied for Thunder Bay while the lone Hearst effort was provided by Camille Sigouin. Jayde Turcotte registered the win while Kayla Jacques suffered the setback for the Ice Cats. With the victory Thunder Bay improved to 2-0 on the day.

Game No. 12: Bantam – Fort Frances Leafs 2 Green Bay Bobcats 2

Elizabeth Thill’s goals with eight seconds gave Green Bay a 2-2 tie with Fort Frances. Thill opened the scoring two minutes into the contest to put the Bobcats out in front before the Leafs responded with markers from Amy Penner and Claire Sandelovich.

Game No. 13: Midget A – Winning Streak Charters Queens 4 Hearst Ice Cats 1
The bantam AA Queens, who are playing in the midget A division this weekend, won their second straight contest as the upended Hearst 4-1. Jessica Gazzola fired a hat-trick and picked up game star accolades for her side. Kaley Tienhaara assisted on all three of Gazzola’s markers while Bronwyn Bolduc notched the other goal. Melanie Collin had the lone tally for the Ice while their netminder Sabrina Picard earned game MVP honours for her team.

Game No. 14: Midget A – Keweenaw Storm 3 Ontario Power Generation Queens 0

Stephanie Kings turned aside all the shots she faced to lead the Keweenaw Storm past the OPG Queens 3-0. Jessica Schlaff had the game-winner for the Calumet, Mich., based Storm in the first period. Megan Yeo  and Kimberley Harter supplied the other markers for Keweenaw against Alannah Dzijacky in the Thunder Bay net.

Game No. 15: Midget AA – Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres U-16 3 Minnesota Crunch 2
Lilly Derby’s goal with 9:29 remaining proved to be the game-winner as the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-16 squad edged the Minnesota Crunch 3-2 in midget AA action at the Queens Showcase. Ariana Buxman and Rachel Koppang all scored for the Sabres while Whitney Whivoda and Rachel Hennessey replied for the Crunch. Mia Becker picked up the victory in net for Shattuck while Stephanie Boemer was saddled with the loss Taylor Salewske earned game star honours for SSM while Joanna Blattner did likewise for her side.

Game No. 16: Midget AA – Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres U-19  2 Sportop Queens 0
The final game of the day saw the powerful Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-19 side get by the Thunder Bay Sportop Queens 2-0 in a tightly contested game. Rebecca Russo fired the game-winner five minutes into the second period while Kim Drake added some insurance late in the contest. Erin Krichiver posted the shutout while Megan Leikkari suffered the setback for the Queens.
