LU hockey drops fourth straight

The suddenly cold Thunderwolves hockey team fell short once again on Friday night.

The suddenly cold Thunderwolves hockey team fell short once again on Friday night.

Andrew Wilkins scored 25 seconds into their road game against the Brock Badgers, but the host squad netted three in a row and held on to down the Wolves 3-2, handing Lakehead (16-7-0) its fourth straight defeat.

Ryan McDonald scored the only other goal for LU, the tally coming with less than three minutes to go in the third to pull his team to within one.

Kaine Geldhart, C.J. Dickson, on a second-period penalty shot, and Sean Jones were the goal-scorers for the Badgers (13-10-1), who helped the Wolves on Wednesday, defeating Waterloo 4-2. LU holds a slim two-point edge on the Warriors in the battle for second place in the OUA West. Lakehead also has a game in hand.

The Wolves head to London Saturday for a date with the Western Mustangs, a team that swept Lakehead last weekend at Fort William Gardens, a pair of 1-0 wins.
