LU volleyball squad loses fifth straight

The winless trek continued on Saturday for Lakehead University’s women’s basketball team.

The Wolves once again fell in straight sets, this time to the Guelph Gryphons, and fell to a disappointing 0-5 in OUA play in 2011-12.

Brittany MacLeod was the leading scorer for LU, picking up 11 points on nine kills and two aces.

Lakehead lost the opening set 25-22, with their best effort, dropping the next two sets 25-17 and 25-15 respectively.
Despite the loss, coach Chris Green remains optimistic.

"Tonight started off the right way." Green said. "Point for point the girls battled smart and aggressively, following exactly what they designed and accepted as the plan. When one person in our game at 20-20 misses their assignment, veteran teams will make you pay.”

The women finish their weekend road trip on Sunday in Hamilton, where they’ll take on a 2-2 McMaster squad that swept Ryerson on Saturday.
