LU women clip Laurentian

A double-double from Lindsay Druery helped the Lakehead Thunderwolves enter the Christmas break at .500.

A double-double from Lindsay Druery helped the Lakehead Thunderwolves enter the Christmas break at .500.

From a defensive standpoint, Sierra Guy grabbed eight boards and Lacey McNulty six, as the women's basketball team escaped the final weekend of the 2011 portion of the season with a 56-44 win over the host Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday night.

Erin Simpson led all scorers with 14 for Laurentian.

The win leaves the Wolves tied for fourth spot on the OUA West, news coach Jon Kreiner welcomed.

"We got a much-needed win to keep pace in a crazy and wild OUA season. Any team has the ability to win on any night and although we struggled again with turnovers we did enough early to seal the victory. Rebounding and Carolyn's shooting against Laurentian's zone were the key to the win," Kreiner said.
