The Lakehead Thunderwolves are a young team that can expect a few bumps along the road this basketball season.

The Wolves hit one on Saturday night, running into a tough Regina Cougars squad on day two of the Bob FM Women’s Basketball Shootout in Winnipeg.

Joanna Zaelesiak netted 14 points to lead the Cougars to an easy 67-38, dropping the Wolves to 0-2 at the three-day event.

Lacy McNulty was the top scorer for LU, collecting nine points. Lindsay Druery grabbed seven boards in the defeat.

The Wolves  (2-4) will take on Manitoba on Sunday morning. Lakehead has already beaten Manitoba twice in preseason play, defeating them 93-87 and 89-85 last month in Dryden.
