Cullen Mahoney’s bat was big for the Thunder?Bay Border Cats, and league officials took notice.
Mahoney, who hit a team-record .347 in his first season at Port?Arthur Stadium, was honoured this week with a Northwoods League Rawlings Big Stick Award as the top offensive second baseman in the circuit.
The Phoenix native broke J.R. Voyles single-season mark and led the Cats in hits, with 74, on base percentage at .426 and had four homers, seven doubles and five triples.
