Makela barely tested in Canadian rout of Germany

Amanda Makela didn’t have much work to worry about on Tuesday. The Thunder Bay netminder stopped 11 of 12 shots, leading Team Canada to an 8-1 win over Germany at the women’s under-18 world hockey championship in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Thunder Bay netminder stopped 11 of 12 shots, leading Team Canada to an 8-1 win over Germany at the women’s under-18 world hockey championship in Stockholm, Sweden.

Nicole Kosta recorded a hat trick and Sarah MacDonnell scored twice and added an assist to pace the Canadians to their third straight win at the tournament.

Canada will play the winner between Finland and Sweden in Thursday’s semifinal.
