The Lakehead Thunderwolves ran into a hot-shooting McMaster Marauders squad on Friday night and paid the price.
The Wolves women fell behind by 12 at the half and couldn't storm back in the latter portion of the contest, dropping a 74-57 decision to fall to 7-6 on the season.
Ayse Kalkan led the offensively challenged Wolves with a dozen points, while sophomore Katie Ulakovic scored seven and had two assists and three steals.
McMaster spread the scoring around, getting double digits from five players, topped by Taylor Chiarot's 14. Chiarot also had eight boards.
"We got it handed to us tonight in our own gym," said LU coach Jon Kreiner in a release. "We got outworked and out played and McMaster played tough, physical and hit their shots.
"Our defence hasn't been this bad in awhile and we struggled to get the ball to our posts in good scoring position. We ned to bring vastly more focus tomorrow night and get back to playing smart, fundamental basketball."
