MBB: Thunderwolves edge Lions at RBC Classic

Rookie Kache Kopec showed a long-distance touch on Saturday, firing five three-pointers as the Lakehead Thunderwolves edged the York Lions at the RBC Classic in St. Catharines.

Bacarius Dinkins had a strong performance for the Wolves as well, scoring a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds in the 72-71 win, a game Lakehead led by 10 in the fourth quarter.

“Our guys competed for 40 minutes and gave us a chance down the stretch,” said coach Manny Furtado in a release.

“We defended really hard and I am really happy with how our guys responded after yesterday’s loss.”

The Wolves will take on Waterloo on Sunday in their tournament finale.
