McCarville opens Northern Scotties with lopsided win

The Thunder Bay foursome, which also includes lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and third Kendra Lilly, stole two in the fourth to go up 4-1 on Laura Payne and stole three more in the seventh to take an 8-2 lead.

McCarville would add another steal of one in the eighth to make the final 9-2.

Innaugural Northern Scotties  champion Tracy Fleury also opened the double round robin on a winning note, stealing five in the seventh to earn a 9-2 lead over hometown hopeful Gale Wiseman.

McCarville and Wiseman meet Thursday afternoon in Draw 2. She’ll play Fleury in the evening draw.
