The Thunder Bay rink scored a 7-1 win over North Bay`s Laura Payne on Friday afternoon to improve to 4-0 in their return to provincial-level curling. The win means the team can finish no worse than second at the Timmins, Ont. event. The top two teams make Sunday`s final.

McCarville engineered steals in five separate ends to secure the victory at the double round-robin tournament.

In other action, Sudbury's Tracy Fleury foursome guaranteed a spot in a tiebreaker and can clinch the other final berth with a win Friday night over Payne. Fleury overcame Gale Wiseman's rink opening with three in the first to score an 11-5 win, improving to 3-1 for the week.

Fleury and McCarville will wrap up the round robin on Saturday.

McCarville took their first match-up on Thursday, edging the defending champion, whose rink includes second Jenna Walsh of Thunder Bay, 7-6.
