Krista McCarville is headed back to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The Thunder Bay skip and her team – lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and third Kendra Lilly – completed a week-long domination Sunday at the Northern Ontario women’s curling play-downs in Timmins, Ont., knocking off defending champion Tracy Fleury’s team 8-4 to capture the title.

The 33-year-old McCarville never trailed in the finale, scoring two with the hammer in the first, two more in the fourth to go up 4-1 and three in the seventh to take a 7-4 lead.

She sealed the win, her third of the week over Fleury, with a steal of one in the ninth.

It marks the fifth trip to nationals for McCarville, a former four-time Ontario champion. McCarville returned to competitive curling this season after a two-year break.

Thunder Bay's Jenna Walsh played second for Team Fleury this week.
