NIPIGON – Team McCarville will hit the Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts with momentum on their side.

Skip Krista McCarville on Saturday pulled off a come-from-behind win in the round-robin finale, making a short run-back for three points in the 10th end to edge the previously undefeated Tracy Fleury rink of Sudbury 5-4.

Both teams finished the round robin of the women’s provincial curling championship in Nipigon with identical 5-1 records.

Fleury earlier in the week downed McCarville 10-7.

Starting with the hammer, Fleury blanked the first two ends and took a 1-0 lead in the third. She doubled her advantage in the fifth with a steal of one, but her lead was erased in the seventh, when McCarville scored a deuce to even things 2-2.

Fleury went in front again with one in the eighth, and appeared to have the match in hand when she stole another in the eighth when McCarville’s final shot came up a centimetre short.

The two teams will meet in Saturday night’s final, scheduled to get under way at 7:30 p.m. at the Nipigon Curling Club.
