Ryan McDonald’s time with the Lakehead Thunderwolves has come to a close.

Ryan McDonald’s time with the Lakehead Thunderwolves has come to a close.

The high-scoring forward, who collected 17 points in 18 games with the Wolves in 2011-12, is leaving for personal and family reasons, confirmed LU coach Joel Scherban via email on Tuesday.

McDonald, a native of Prince Albert, Sask., spent three seasons in a Lakehead uniform, joining the club after Christmas during the 2009-10 campaign.

In 58 career games he collected 32 goals and added 27 assists to go with 72 penalty minutes.

McDonald spent parts of six seasons in the Western Hockey League prior to his arrival in Thunder Bay, and played a playoff game with the Rocky Mountain Rage of the Central Hockey League in 2008-09.
