Lakehead’s woeful start to the OUA hockey season continued on Friday night.

Not that a 5-1 loss wasn’t expected.

After all, it was the No. 4-ranked McGill Redmen playing host.

Matheiu Pompei and David Rose each scored twice and added a helper apiece to lead McGill to the win.

Dominic Talbot-Tassi had the Redmen’s other tally.

Jake Wright snapped Jacob Gervais-Chouinard’s shutout bid with 2:34 to go in the second. Devin Green took the loss in the Thunderwolves net, stopping 31 of 36 shots fired at the Lakehead net.

The loss dropped the Wolves record to 0-5-5, the worst start since the team returned to the university ranks in 2001-02.

The Wolves and Redmen meet again on Saturday in Montreal.
