The Lakehead Thunderwolves remain winless after nine games.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves remain winless after nine games.

The men’s hockey squad fell 5-3 Thursday on the road against the nationally ranked Western Mustangs, dropping to 0-8-1 in what’s proven to be the worst start in the team’s 15-year history.

Shaun Furlong scored a natural hat trick for the No. 8 Mustangs (8-2-0), who took over sole possession of top spot in the OUA West.
Andrew Goldberg and Alex Micallef, who put the game away with an empty-netter at the 18:57 mark of the third, also scored for Western.

E.J. Faust, Dylan Butler and Carson Dubchak had Lakehead’s tally.

Jeff Bosch was victimized four times on 33 shots to take the loss. Peter Delmas made 26 saves to pick up the win.
