Linden Springer was the double overtime hero for a Lakehead Thunderwolves team in desperate need of victories.
Springer’s goal, his second of the season, capped a third-period comeback that saw the Wolves rally from a goal down, Jake Wright tying the game just 42 seconds after Patrick Volpe had pushed the host Brock Badgers in front 3-2, their second lead of the night.
Sam Schutt and Jake Ringuette, who connected 11 seconds after Sammy Banga made it 2-1 Badgers in the second, were the other LU scorers.
Devin Green made 29 saves to earn the win in net for the last-place Thunderwolves (5-12-4), who pulled to within four points of eighth-place Toronto in the race for the final playoff spot in the OUA West. The Wolves also have a game in hand.
Dylan Butler and Billy Jenkins each had a pair of assists for Lakehead.
The Thunderwolves journey to Toronto on Saturday to take on the first-place York Lions.
