Miller solid, but not enough support from offense

Zak Miller just can’t buy any luck.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats allowed just two runs in six innings Wednesday night, but the Cats anemic offense, which exploded for 12 runs the night before and snapped a five-game losing streak, could only manage but one run while the White Rock, B.C. native was on the mound against the Mankato Moondogs.

Departing with a 2-1 deficit, Miller’s replacements Brad Delatte and Donnie White, who hadn’t given up a run all season, combined to surrender four in two innings as Thunder Bay went on to a 6-2 defeat.

Cullen Mahoney and David Fallon led the Cats with an RBI apiece, with Mahoney raising his season average to .313 with a 2-for-4 performance.

Thunder Bay returns to Port Arthur Stadium Thursday night for the first of two against Mankato, who also made the trek up Highway 61.
