THUNDER BAY -- The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Bryce Young of the Red Lake Miners has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending March 10.

In four outings during the time frame, the 19-year-old forward from The Pas, Man., had points in each of them helping the Miners go 3-0-1.

After two and one-assist nights in wins vs. Fort Frances and Dryden, Young scored once and set-up another in an overtime setback vs. Thunder Bay before capping off his week with a first period natural hat trick, and a helper, as the Miners put an end to a 12-game winning streak of the North Stars.

With 56 goals so far in 2018-19, he is now tied for second all-time in SIJHL history for most tallies in a single campaign joining Chris Bryson, who accomplished the feat back in 2006-07, with the then Schreiber Diesels.

Young enters the final week of the regular season leading the league in overall points with 95 in 50 games, including 39 assists.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Logan Mihalcin, (D) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jacob Anthony, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Blake Nelson, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Jaedin Ness, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Joe Lech, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
