Former Lakehead men’s basketball coach Scott Morrison has landed himself a pretty decent gig this summer.

Morrison, who coached the Thunderwolves from 2003 to 2013, has been named coach of the NBA D-League’s select team, which will compete in the NBA Summer League.

The Morell, P.E.I. native is the coach of the Maine Red Claws and the defending Dennis Johnson NBA D-League coach of the year. He led the Red Claws to a franchise best 35 wins last season.

His squad includes four players with NBA experience: Justin Dentmon, Taylor Griffin, Scotty Hopson and Hasheem Thabeet.

Morrison’s team will see its first action on Friday when they take on the Houston Rockets.
