THUNDER BAY – The red-hot Thunder Bay North Stars have run their winning streak to nine games.

The host Stars scored four times in the second period at Fort William Gardens on Friday night and went on to down the Dryden Ice Dogs 7-3.

Keighan Gerrie scored twice and added a pair of assists for Thunder Bay, while Kyle Auger scored once and picked up three helpers.

Avery Siau, Alexander Erwin and Alex Maticic also scored for the North Stars (26-11-3), who climbed to within eight points of second-place Dryden (28-4-7), winners of eight of their past 10 games.

Former North Stars forward Kris Hamlin scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Ice Dogs, who trailed 5-1 after two.

Jaen Bracko and Eric Stout also scored for Dryden. Brandon Bodnar made 38 saves to earn the victory. Dryden’s Jacob Gnidziejko was chased after surrendering five goals on 18 shots, replaced by Landon Pavlisin.

The two teams will tangle again on Saturday night.
