But the Thunder Bay North Stars forward’s 10th of the season wound up being the winner, as the North Stars stopped the streaking Dryden Ice Dogs 3-2 in Dryden.

Mitch Forbes and Mitch Galbraith staked the Stars to a 2-0 lead in the second, scoring five minutes apart at 3:38 and 8:47 respectively.

Thomas Greene halved the lead at 11:20 and the game stayed that way until Tilley scored at 16:11 of the third.

Julius Tamasy made it a one-goal game 41 seconds later, beating North Stars netminder Jay Pelletier, who made 24 saves to earn the win.

Dryden was riding a six-game winning streak heading into this one.

Elsewhere in Superior International Junior Hockey League play, Bryce Anderson scored twice and Dawson Kuhlmann added a pair of assists in Wisconsin’s 4-1 win over last-place Sioux Lookout. The Wilderness maintained their hold on second place, one point ahead of Thunder Bay, who hold three games in hand on.

Thunder Bay hosts Sioux Lookout on Wednesday and Duluth and Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday respectively.
