Northern Ontario routs B.C. to earn sixth win at Scotties

The Thunder Bay foursome improved to 6-3 for the week on Thursday, after knocking off British Columbia’s Karla Thompson 10-3 in Draw 14.

McCarville, edging closer to a playoff spot, controlled the match most of the way, taking a 2-1 lead in the third and stealing two more in the fourth to go up 4-1.

Thompson got one back in the fifth, but Team Northern Ontario pounced in the sixth, scoring three to take a commanding 7-2 lead. She added three more in the eighth to end the game."

B.C. fell to 1-8 and is facing relegation for a second straight year.

Alberta helped McCarville’s cause on Sheet B, trouncing Jill Brothers’ rink 8-2. Brothers fell to 5-5, while Chelsea Carey continues to lead the pack at 8-2.

McCarville takes on Quebec's Marie-France Larouche on Thursday afternoon and wraps up round-robin play on Friday morning against Jen Hanna's Ontario rink.
