The Thunder Bay Border Cats busted out of a five-game slump in powerful fashion Tuesday night.

Alex Guthrie, Matt Stevens and Mike Hubbard each blasted home runs as the Cats rolled over the host Mankato Moondogs 12-2.

The offensive output was eight more runs than Thunder Bay scored during the entirety of its recent skid, and made a winner out of John Straka, who gave up just five hits pitching into the seventh.

Every Cats starter had a least one hit on the night, and all but Kevin Taylor and Brett Kay drove in at least one run.

Hubbard and Taylor scored three times for the Cats, who chased Mankato’s Jordan Remer in the fourth after giving up four runs, all of them earned.

The two teams will play the rubber match of their three-game set on Wednesday.
