Ontario Cup soccer heads to city

The Thunder Bay Italia Juventus Soccer Club and the Premier Soccer League of Thunder Bay announced Thursday that the Ontario Cup soccer would return to the city.

Brampton FC will travel to Thunder Bay this weekend to face-off against Juventus in the third round of the 2010 Ontario Cup Men’s Division.

The game is set to take place on Saturday, July 10 at Chapples Park. Kick off is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The two teams will be facing elimination Saturday, as the loser will be knocked out of the competition. Juventus will look to put on a strong showing in front of its home fans, and advance to the quarter final stages later this month.

Brampton F.C. finds their way to Thunder Bay after defeating the Aurora Heats to advance to the third round against Juventus.

The local club has not played a game in the tournament due to the lack of teams entering the competition within the Soccer Northwest Ontario District (SNO).

The Ontario Cup, the Provincial Soccer Championship, is the largest competition of its kind in Canada, and is the Ontario Soccer Association’s flagship event.
