THUNDER BAY —The Peewee Queens will travel to Duluth this weekend for the St. Lukes Icebreaker Invitational Tournament. Some of the best teams in Minnesota and Chicago will be in attendance. In their first game, the Peewee Queens will be looking to knock off the #2 ranked team in Minnesota, the Edina Hornets. Their second game will see them face Elk River, with the hopes of then moving on to the Gold Medal semi final game Saturday evening.

The PW Queens currently have a 9-4 record playing against some of the best teams in Minnesota. They've had a huge win against former #2 ranked Hermantown and the team is coming off a 3rd place finish in their last tournament in Blaine in December.

"This is by far our biggest tournament of the year,” says Assistant Coach, Lance Barenz. "To be the best, you have to beat the best!"

The Peewee Queens currently sits ranked 13th in Minnesota. A big weekend in Duluth could possibly move us up into the top 5 of the Minnesota rankings says Head Coach Dave Olenik. “We'd love nothing more then to knock off #2 Edina, and then have a shot at the powerhouse #1 ranked Andover Huskies to see where our girls fit against the best.”

Overall on the year, the Queens have a 21-7-1-1 record in peewee boys and girls tournaments and in the LMHL peewee league.
