Piche stingy in shutout win

Guillaume Piche stopped 39 shots to record his third shutout in four starts and sixth of the season as the Stars blanked the host Sioux Lookout Flyers 4-0 on Saturday night.

Corey Hamel doubled his season output with a pair of goals for the winning side, with singles going to Mitch Forbes and Riley Marsh.

In other Superior International Junior Hockey League play, Tom Paine scored twice, once in the third and the winner 41 seconds into overtime as the Wisconsin Wilderness edged the Dryden Ice Dogs 2-1 on home ice.

The Wilderness 33-6-5, lead the SIJHL standings with 71 points, eight more than second place Fort Frances.

The Stars are third at 28-16-2.
