It appears Tom Pyatt will call Montreal home for at least the next year.

The Thunder Bay-born forward has inked a one-way, one-year $500,000 deal with the Canadiens. He was slated to become a restricted free agent on Thursday.

Pyatt, 23, played 40 games for the Habs in 2009-10, his first in the NHL, scoring two goals and adding three assists.

He was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in 2005, but was dealt to Montreal last summer in a deal also sent playmaking centre Scott Gomez north of the border.
