Queens take tourney opener

The Thunders Bay Sportop Midget AA Queens are off to a good start at the Shattuck St. Mary’s under-19 tournament in Minnesota. The Queens handily won their opener, beating Team Wisconsin 5-1 on Friday night.

The Thunders Bay Sportop Midget AA Queens are off to a good start at the Shattuck St. Mary’s under-19 tournament in Minnesota.

The Queens handily won their opener, beating Team Wisconsin 5-1 on Friday night.

Alyssa Westerback, Riley Cronk, Kaley Tienhaara, Bronwyn Bolduc and Jessica Gazzola netted goals for the Queens, who take on the Minnesota Thoroughbreds on Saturday afternoon.

Jayde Turcotte made 16 saves to pick up the win.
