Scharf jumps to 2-0

Joe Scharf made easy work of Geraldton’s John Salo on Monday morning. The Thunder Bay skip trailed 1-0 after the opening end, but rolled over his opponent the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win.

The Thunder Bay skip trailed 1-0 after the opening end, but rolled over his opponent the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win.

The Scharf rink, that also includes lead Gary Champagne, second Rob Champagne and third Mike McCarville, scored two in the third to take a 2-1 lead, then stole one in the third, three in the fourth and two more in the fifth, ending the match.

In other Draw 3 play, Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs leads Thunder Bay’s Mike Pozihum 5-2 through eight ends, Englehart’s David MacInnes is tied 5-5 with North Bay’s Dustin Montpellier and Thunder Bay’s Jeff Currie is tied with Stratton’s Tim Nordon 4-4 through eight.
