The Lakehead Thunderwolves haven’t fared too well taking on the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs south of the border.
This season, they decided to see if the outcome might be different on home ice.
The Bulldogs, slated for a pair of games Jan. 2 and 3, are one of the highlights of a men’s hockey schedule slated to begin Sept. 19 at Fort William Gardens when the Mount Royal Cougars invade Thunder Bay to kick off pre-season play.
The Wolves, who will then host the Laurentian Voyageurs the following weekend in non-conference play, open the OUA regular season on the road, traveling to Waterloo on Oct. 3 and Laurier the next night.
They’ll head to Duluth to take on the Bulldogs on Oct. 6, and kick off their home schedule on Oct. 10 against the York Lions.
Other teams landing in Thunder Bay next winter include Windsor, Brock, McGill and Western, who will play back-to-back night on Nov. 28 and 29 to end the first half. UQTR and Guelph are the lone visitors in the second half.
The season will wrap up as it began, with games in Waterloo and Laurier on Feb. 6 and 7.
