Tyler Megan had a pair of goals to help the Schreiber Filane’s Falcons skate past the Northern Renegades 7-5 Friday in a high-scoring Thunder Bay Junior B Hockey League contest at Eagle Lake Arena.
The two sides erupted for seven goals in the opening frame, including four by the Falcons.
Alex Vizier, Jean-Luc Moses, Dylan Duranceau and Megan scored for Schreiber in the session while Blake Moore tallied twice and Brock Clink added a single for the Renegades.
After Josh Reid tied it early in the second stanza the Falcons answered back with three of their own to take a 7-4 lead after 40 minutes.
Megan’s second along with solo efforts from Dillon Megan and Mike Fummerton were the marksmen for the Falcons.
Aaron Roy’s ninth of the campaign pulled the home side to within two in the third, but that’s as close as they would get as Schreiber held on for the victory.
The visitors would carry the shots on goal margin by a 39-31 count with Chase Hamilton picking up the win in net for the Falcons who improved to 5-19-1.
Curtis Barker started for the Renegades before giving way to Greg Turner, who would ultimately suffer the loss in relief as the club remained winless on the season at 0-22-1.
The sides will wrap-up their two-game set Saturday with a 1 p.m. matinee back at Eagle Lake Arena.
