Goalie Carter Hutton could have some Thunder Bay company at the San Jose Sharks training camp this fall.
The Western Conference finalists grabbed Thunder Bay defenceman Justin Sefton in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft on Saturday, making the Sudbury Wolves rearguard the 89th overall pick.
The 6-foot-3 Sefton, who turned 18 in April, had five goals, six assists and 124 penalty minutes in 66 games with the Ontario Hockey League team.
Expected to be picked a little lower, according to his final Central Scouting ranking, Sefton was ecstatic at going in the third round.
“It’s definitely nice, after not being rated quite as high,” Sefton told the Sudbury Star. “It shows that a lot of that hard work does pay off.”
