Sergerie pots winner for Wolves

Lakehead isn't blowing opponents out of the water, but like Tim Tebow in the NFL, they just keep finding ways to win.

On Friday the No. 9-ranked Thunderwolves built a healthy three-goal lead on the host Windsor Lancers, then hung on to win 4-3.
Andrew Wilkins, Ryan McDonald and Mike Quesnele tallied first-period markers, with Adam Sergerie adding what proved to be the eventual winner late in the second.

Spencer Pommel and Brett Oliphant, who scored with five seconds to go in regulation, scored for Windsor in the third, the only goals of the period.

All three Lancer goals came on the power play, unusual for the normally strong penalty-killing Thunderwolves (10-3-0).

Trevor Gamache and Chris de la Lande had a pair of assists each for Lakehead, who were missing high-scoring forward Matt Caria, still sidelined with a right ankle injury.

It was Lakehead's 10th win in 11 games.

The Wolves and Lancers are back at it on Saturday night.
