SIJHL sets playoff series

The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that the semi-final playoff schedule between the No. 2 Fort Frances Lakers and the No. 3 Dryden Ice Dogs has now been confirmed.

Action will get underway Friday at Ice for Kids Arena in Fort Frances in a 7:30 p.m. start.

That will be followed by the second game of the best-of-seven affair back in Fort Frances on Sunday in a contest that will see an 8 p.m. puck drop.

The series will then shift to Dryden Memorial Arena for games three and four March 22 and 24 respectively. Game time each evening there will be 7:30 p.m.

Should they be required, game five will feature the Lakers on home ice on March 25 followed by game six back in Dryden on March 28 and once again, if necessary, game seven will be held March 29 back in Fort Frances. All of those potential contests will have 7:30 p.m. start times.

The other SIJHL semi-final set of the No. 1 Wisconsin Wilderness and the No. 4 Thunder Bay North Stars also gets underway this weekend with the Northwest Sports Complex in Spooner, Wis., serving as the venue for games one and two Friday and Saturday. Action there commences at 7 p.m. both nights.
