All-Star Game and Skills Competition which goes Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Hippodrome in Eveleth, Minn.

THUNDER BAY The Superior International Junior Hockey League unveiled Thursday its game jerseys, coaching staffs, a number of roster changes, its on-ice officials and broadcasters for its upcoming All-Star Game and Skills Competition which goes Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Hippodrome in Eveleth, Minn.

Produced by Northland Distribution Ltd., and designed by Michael Hughes, the respective jerseys in the Border Battle format will see the Canadian-born SIJHL all-stars wearing red uniforms with Canada and a version of a moose on the front as well as a number of maple leafs below.

Meanwhile the U.S. jerseys feature USA, an eagle and a trio of stars emblazoned on the front.

The sleeves on both team jerseys boast the all-star game logo along with those of the SIJHL and Canadian Junior Hockey League.

Serving behind the bench as coaches for the Canadian contingent will be Kurt Walsten of the defending SIJHL champion Dryden GM Ice Dogs along with Wayne Strachan and Nick Wreggitt of the Fort Frances Lakers along with Rob DeGagne of the Thunder Bay North Stars.

English River Miners head coach and general manager Derek Sweet-Coulter will be unable to participate due to his commitments as an assistant coach with Team Canada West for the upcoming World Jr. A Challenge.

Guiding Team USA’s fortunes as coaches will be Cole Workman and Kaine Martell of the league-leading Thief River Falls Norskies along with Todd Kreibich and Garrett Hendrickson of the Minnesota Iron Rangers.

The two teams will be assisted by equipment managers Don Dowswell of the North Stars and Wayde West of the Iron Rangers as well as by Lakers’ athletic trainer Hailey Clendenning.

Meanwhile a number of injuries since the two rosters were announced has resulted in a number of replacement players being added to both squads.

For the Canadian SIJHL all-stars, defenceman Brendan Jay of Dryden replaces injured Conner Keith from Fort Frances while Thunder Bay forward Ryan Mignault steps in for teammate Avery Siau of the North Stars.

As for Team USA, forward Eli Kinsman from Minnesota moves in for Johnny Bennis from Thief River Falls and D-man Peter Grytdahl of the Norskies takes over for injured GM Ice Dogs blueliner Tristan Knott.

Selected to officiate the SIJHL All-Star Game are veteran league officials Brett Klosowski and Tod Plackner, who will be the referees, while Jace Friedlieb and Taylor Vichorcek will be the linesmen.

Calling all the action and providing all the play-by-play for the entire event will be the long-time voice of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Mike Ebbeling along with former Minnesota Iron Rangers broadcaster Dan Bradley.

“The SIJHL would like to thank Northland Distribution Ltd., for producing the game jerseys as well as Michael Hughes for their design,” stated SIJHL commissioner Bryan Graham.

“We’d also like to commend Ken Corbett for his tremendous efforts down in the Iron Range and for his time and commitment in helping make the SIJHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition in Eveleth a reality,” added Graham.

Tickets for the SIJHL All-Star Game & Skills Competition will be available at the door at the Hippodrome as well as at various outlets across the Iron Range.

The cost to attend both events are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children with the Skills Competition getting underway at 5 p.m. CT while the All-Star Game begins at 7 p.m. CT.

Both the SIJHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will be streamed live online via HockeyTV.com.
