Greg Weissert struck out the only two batters he faced and Jared James had a hit in three at bats, but the Thunder Bay Border Cats’ contributions Tuesday night weren’t enough to help the North Division prevail in the Northwoods League all-star game.

The South Division squad scored on a sacrifice fly and an error in the first to take a 2-1 lead and never looked back, a dozen pitchers combining to surrender just six hits, none to Thunder Bay’s Carter McEachern in three at bats, en route to a 3-1 win.

Waterloo’s Luke Stratman was the lone bright spot offensively for the North Division side, hitting a solo homerun in the top of the first off South Division starter Garrett Harrison of the Green Bay Bulldogs.

Willmar’s Brady Anderson, the North Division starter, took the loss. Lakeshore’s Lake Bachar, who pitched a perfect fifth, was credited with the win.

The Border Cats return home on Thursday night to take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
