St. Pat's, Churchill stay unbeaten in boys volleyball

St. Patrick and Churchill continued their winning ways Thursday on the senior boys volleyball court.

The Saints blanked Dennis Franklin Cromarty 3-0 while the Trojans were equally as dominant against the Westgate Tigers, defeating them in three straight (25-10, 25-17 and 25-21).

Both squads upped their record to 3-0 with the wins.

St. Ignatius improved to 2-1, edging La Verendrye 2-1.

On the junior boys court, St. Ignatius edged La Vererdrye by the same 2-1 score, their second win in two outings. St. Patrick’s knocked off Superior Collegiate 3-0 and Westgate squeaked past winless Churchill 2-1.

In senior girls basketball preseason play, Katelyn Andrea had 24 points and Cassandra Soulias added 21 to lead St. Ignatius to a 68-41 exhibition win over Hammarskjold. Aliisa Heiskanen had  18 for the Vikings.

Finally, in golf, St. Ignatius, Hammarskjold and Superior joined St. Pat’s in the semifinals.
