Quinn Rempel and Travis Tilley had a goal and assist apiece on Wednesday, sweeping the Thunder Bay North Stars into the Superior International Junior Hockey League semifinals.
The 4-1 win over the second-year Duluth Clydesdales at the Duluth Heritage Arena completed a 4-0 best-of-seven series romp, though the Stars will have to wait a little longer to see who they'll play in the next round.
Thunder Bay will take on the winner of the two-set mini-series between No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 2 Fort Frances. Wisconsin took the first two-game set at home last weekend. The winner of the 1-2 series gets to choose its semifinal opponent.
Devin Fullum scored the winner for the Stars midway through the second, some three minutes after Duluth's Matt Morsette had knotted the score 1-1 at the 7:43 mark.
Brandon Warmington provided insurance at 12:27 of the middle stanza.
At Sioux Lookout, the Dryden Ice Dogs took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the host Flyers when Chris Belhumeuer scored the winner at 4:24 of overtime Tuesday night, capping a 4-3 Dryden victory.
The win spoiled a second-half comeback by the Flyers, who trailed 3-1 when Belhumeur netted his first of the night at 9:54 of the second period.
Dane Morin scored twice, once in the second and once early in the third to tie to game 3-3 and send it to an extra period.
Thomas Greene and Diego Breckenridge had first-period goals for the Ice Dogs. Chris Hoffman scored the only other Flyers marker, the goal coming at 6:08 of the first.
Dryden will look to close out the best-of-seven series Thursday night in Sioux Lookout.
