Matt Kaarela, Travis Tilley, Tyler Osborne and Sam Dubinsky staked the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 4-0 lead on Friday.
And despite a third-period barrage and goals by Max Strasser and Cory LaCrosse, the Sioux Lookout Flyers (10-8-1) were unable to mount the final stages of their comeback, falling 4-2 on home ice and surrendering third place to the Stars (9-5-4) in the process.
Tilley added an assist and Quinn Rempel had a pair of helpers in the win.
In the only other Superior International Junior Hockey League action Friday night, Thomas Greene, Bryce Maggrah and Len Pelletier scored first period tallies to boost the Dryden Ice Dogs to a 3-0 lead over the Iron Range Ironheads.
Tyson Holder increased the lead to four early in the second before the Ironheads, who won their first SIJHL game earlier in the week, put two on the board courtesy of Benjamin Brouillard and Shamus O'Neill.
Greene put it away with his 10th of the year five minutes into the third.
