Stars take series lead

A three-point night by Ryan Magill has the Fort William North Stars back on top in the Superior International Junior Hockey League final.

Magill scored what proved to be the winner midway through the first period as the visiting Stars went on Saturday night to defeat the Dryden Ice Dogs 5-1. Travis Savard, Jordan Davis, Mitch Forbes and Cody Lund, who had a two-point effort, also scored for the Stars, who took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Mark McDonald scored the only goal for Dryden, at 17:07 of the opening period.
Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday night in Dryden.
