Stingers crush Border Cats 11-0

It’s a start Tyler Lequire would likely rather forget. The Border Cats pitcher was hammered Sunday on the road in Willmar, the Stingers erupting for 10 runs and 12 hits before chasing him with one out in the fifth, and went to an 11-0 win.

The Border Cats pitcher was hammered Sunday on the road in Willmar, the Stingers erupting for 10 runs and 12 hits before chasing him with one out in the fifth, and went to an 11-0 win.

It was the second loss in three starts for Lequire and the third in a row for Thunder, entrenched in last place in the Northwoods League North Division.

The two teams played a scoreless first, then the Stingers struck for two in the second, third and fourth innings, adding four more in the fifth. Reagan Fowler, Max Dutto and Nick Rivera each had a pair of RBI for second-place Willmar (9-4).

The Cats (3-10) only managed four hits in the contest, just two in six scoreless innings against Stingers starter Matt Snyder, who earned the victory in his NWL debut.
