THUNDER BAY -- More than 70 Special Olympics athletes from all over Thunder Bay were competing at the Lakehead University Hangar Thursday for a chance at their spot in the upcoming Special Olympics Championships.

High School students from all over Thunder Bay were taking part in the event, with the goal of having fun and competing hard. And for some, it may mean also qualifying for the championships in Southern Ontario in May.

Jonathan Legall is representing St. Pat's at the tournament. He said it's a lot of hard work to be an athlete but it's all worth it when he gets to compete and see his friends from the other schools around the city.
