The Thunder bay Chill are turning to their past as they look toward the future and a return to the Premier Development League playoffs.

The Thunder bay Chill are turning to their past as they look toward the future and a return to the Premier Development League playoffs.

The soccer club on Friday announced all-time leading scorer Branden Swartzendruber will re-join the team after a three-year absence.

In 64 games over four seasons, the Colorado native scored 57 goals and led the Chill to the 2008 PDL championship.

He’s one of 16 new faces who will take to the pitch on Saturday as training camp gets under way. Included on the roster is Sergio Campano Franco, who was part of a Chill squad that went to the PDL final in 2013.

Only four returnees are expected to suit up this season.

Training camp will last two weeks, with the Chill scheduled to open their season on the road in St. Louis on May 23.
