Kevin Taylor singled home a pair of runs in the sixth inning, part of a three RBI night, helping the Thunder Bay Border Cats snap a three-game losing streak Monday night with a 6-1 romp over the visiting Alexandria Beetles.
Taylor’s 2-for-5 performance helped make a winner out of Thunder Bay starter John Straka, who tossed seven innings of four-hit ball to pick up his second victory in two decisions this season.
Casey Selsor, T.J. Bennett and Cullen Mahoney also drove in runs for the Cats (9-11), who opened a six-game home-stand at Port Arthur Stadium in front of 559 fans.
Matt Fyffe (1-2) gave up six runs on seven hits, leaving with one out in the sixth, in taking the loss for Alexandria.
