Ice conditions may force a fishing derby to move locations.

The first annual Teen Challenge Ice Fishing Derby is supposed to take place at Silver Harbour on March 3 and 4. But because of thin ice conditions so far this winter, the derby might be moved to Whitefish Lake. Organizer Robby Ahuja hopes that’s not the case because Silver Harbour is much closer to Thunder Bay for anglers.

Prize money for the derby is $20,000. All 300 spots are expected to be filled. Proceeds will go to Teen Challenge programs, which combat youth drug addiction in Thunder Bay.
